Our Mission
Cleanplate Academy exists to demystify cooking techniques and empower home cooks across Mexico and beyond to prepare nutritious, delicious meals using simple, accessible methods. We believe that every kitchen is a laboratory for health, creativity, and connection.
Our editorial team curates evidence-informed content about food preparation, ingredient selection, and culinary traditions that honor both modern nutrition science and time-tested wisdom from diverse cultures.
We are committed to transparent, jargon-free writing that helps readers make confident choices in their kitchens without shame, perfectionism, or gatekeeping.
Our Core Values
Authenticity
We write from real experience and research, never claiming miracles or shortcuts. Our content reflects what actually works in real home kitchens, with honest acknowledgment of trade-offs and individual variation.
Community
Cooking is a social act. We celebrate diverse food traditions, family recipes, and shared meals. Our platform brings together home cooks of all skill levels to learn from each other and build confidence in the kitchen.
Accessibility
Quality cooking techniques should not require expensive equipment or rare ingredients. We focus on methods that work within different budgets, abilities, and living situations across Mexico and Latin America.
Curiosity
We approach food with wonder, not dogma. Our writers ask "why" and "how," exploring the science and story behind cooking methods, ingredient interactions, and flavor development with genuine interest.
Respect
We respect your autonomy, your body, your budget, and your time. We never shame eating choices, never push quick fixes, and always honor the cultural significance of food traditions we discuss.
Evidence
Our articles are grounded in current nutrition science and culinary research, with sources clearly cited. We update content when new evidence emerges and transparently explain limitations of what we know.
Our Story
Cleanplate Academy began as a conversation among food writers, home cooks, and culinary educators who shared a frustration: too much nutrition content was abstract, fear-based, or dressed up in medical language that left people confused and discouraged in their own kitchens.
We wanted to create a space where cooking skill and food knowledge could develop naturally, without shame or complexity. A place where learning to roast vegetables properly, understand fermentation, master knife skills, or cook beans from dried would be celebrated as genuine expertise.
From our base in Mexico, we have built an editorial platform that reflects the richness of Mexican and Latin American culinary traditions alongside global techniques. We publish articles about technique, ingredient science, cultural food history, and practical kitchen skills—written for real people cooking real meals in real time.
Today, thousands of home cooks visit Cleanplate Academy every month to read our latest articles, explore our technique library, and connect with others who believe that cooking well is one of life's most nourishing practices. We are proud to remain independent, reader-supported, and completely free of commercial pressure to oversell or oversimplify.
Our Editorial Team
We are a diverse team of food writers, culinary educators, nutrition communicators, and home cooks united by curiosity about how cooking actually works and why it matters.
